Operations Director — John Silverthorne
As a founding Director of NRW, John Silverthorne is an integral part of the project management team, holding responsibility for overseeing all the field operational aspects. With over 33 years experience in the earthmoving industry, John is closely involved in the tendering process and general business development.
John has managed a variety of large projects in both the public and private sectors and his expertise was a major contributing factor in the company’s successful listing on the Stock Exchange in 2007.
Manager Director Civil and Mining — Willie Rooney
Willie has over 30 years Civil and Mining Contracting experience and prior to joining NRW had overall management responsibility for Macmahon Contractors Australian construction activities. He has extensive experience in earthworks, contract mining, roadworks and mine infrastructure including rail, ports and concrete.
General Manager Civil — Mal Stewart
Mal has over 28 years of construction industry experience in Western Australia, Northern Territory and South Australia. His project involvement was on site until 1995 and has been at a Corporate level over the past 14 years.
Mal's experience includes both resource sector and government infrastructure works, with values up to $350 million each. Mal has been involved with projects involving earthworks, roads and bridges, concrete and SMP.
General Manager Mining — Simon Ridley
(Western Region and Overseas)
Simon is responsible for NRW’s mining operations in Western Australia and Overseas. Simon is a Mining Engineer with 24 years experience in underground and open pit mining in Australia, Europe and Africa. He brings to NRW extensive experience in safety, mine operations and contract management gained in senior management roles with Australian mining companies and contractors.
Prior to joining NRW Simon was employed by Resolute Ltd as the Mining Manager at their East Africa operation and this expertise will enhance NRW’s ability to expand into the overseas mine contracting market.
General Manager Mining — Shaun Lucas
(Eastern Region)
Shaun has over 28 years civil and mining experience gained throughout Australia as well as internationally. He has gained significant experience with major mining companies in the fields of project development, contract management, open cut and underground operations.
Numerous civil and mining projects with Leighton’s, Thiess and Roche Brothers — across a broad spectrum of commodities, locations and projects — ensure NRW’s expertise on the East Coast of Australia is supported by management with relevant exposure and experience to facilitate quality services to the civil and mining sectors.
Chief Financial Officer — Mark Wallace
Mark joined NRW Holdings Ltd in 2008 bringing with him more than 18 years experience in finance and accounting with 13 years dedicated to senior roles in mining services companies. Mark is a Certified Practicing Accountant with broad finance experience in the areas of acquisitions, divestitures, establishment and management of both Australian and international entities; specifically China, South America and throughout the African continent.
